Psalm 56:3-4

You’ve been afraid and ashamed of being afraid — like the fear itself is a failure.

“When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?” — Psalm 56:3-4 (WEB)

Notice the order. David doesn’t say “I trust God and therefore I’m not afraid.” He says “when I am afraid, I WILL put my trust.” The fear comes first. The trust is a response to the fear, not a replacement for it.

These live among our psalms for anxious hearts — one psalm, one honest echo, every morning.

Quietly with you,
